Limiting Beliefs

We all have them….those little voices that tell us we can’t make enough money, or lose weight, or have great relationships, or are otherwise not good enough.  Limiting beliefs are part of the human experience, and often stem back to long forgotten childhood experiences.

Part of learning to manifest what you want is seeing limiting beliefs for what they are and then deciding to make a different choice.  Remember that your experience reflects the story you tell yourself about life…and limiting beliefs are limiting stories told over and over again.

The thing about these limiting stories is that they become so much a part of who we are that we don’t even see them.  So the first step in changing them (after wanting the change) is awareness.

One way to do this is to become an observer in your life…passively watching how you handle different situations.  This is often a real eye opener to limiting beliefs as it allows you to see your actions from a semi-outside perception.

Another thing that works well is to ask yourself what you’d say to your child if he/she uttered those words?  Often times we support those we love much more than we support ourselves.

Remember it’s a process.  It’s not something you “do” once and clear it up for good.  Some of these things are very entrenched in your thinking and only by chipping away at them will they be finally released.  And beliefs, like onions, have layers so expect another one to pop up once the first is taken care of.

And if you’re really stuck think about talking to a good coach who can help you re-write that story and dissolve those limiting beliefs.
