Listen To Your Body
Last night I had an eye opening experience. After a full day of work, I spent over 2 hours on “one last project” after which I went home exhausted.
When I got home the guy I was helping out called to let me know I’d made some pretty dumb mistakes. Mistakes I wouldn’t have made had I not worn myself out working almost 10 hours straight without a break or any significant food.
I took this a bit personally because I pride myself on my work and usually have great attention to detail. So what’s the lesson here?
First, I realized that I’m not perfect. As much as I’d like to think I am, there are simply times when the keys move under my fingers and the wrong stuff appears on the screen, things get misplaced, and my results are less than stellar. So if you ever beat yourself up for being less than perfect just know that there is at least one other person on the planet who makes mistakes now and then too :)
Second, and this was the big lesson, I need to listen to my body. Yes the guy wanted the project finished and yes, I wanted to get it done too but my body had other plans. It wanted to go home, have dinner, and go to bed! And had I listened I could have finished the project today, probably in less time and with a lot more accuracy. Instead I have to go back today and correct what was wrong last night which will be another couple hours…ugh!
So the next time my eyes start acting funny, my fingers refuse to type even simple words like “and” and “the,” my stomach is shouting at me, and I can’t remember simple things like my phone number or where I put that pen I just had a second ago, I’m going to take the cue from my body, take a break and come back later to finish what I’m doing.
Oh… and how does this tie in to Law of Attraction? A lot because your inner being often communicates through physical cues. Your body a reflection of your emotional and mental states so when it’s rebelling pay attention! It is telling you that you’re out of sync with your true self.
Ok back to that project now. And yes…I am well rested!
