The Eye of The Storm

Last week I had all sorts of technical issues.  Stupid technical issues that made absolutely no sense.  Like the phone/internet line being out of service for 2 days… and when the tech guy came he fixed it in about 30 seconds.  And Network issues, and internet sites not loading for no reason,  and blog posts not posting.  And e-mail going MIA and my newsletter not going out until very late last Monday night (instead of Monday morning like it usually does).

In addition to being a Muse, I’m also a web designer and small business consultant.  So these technical snags affected not only me but my clients too.  Ugh!

At any rate, by the middle of the week I was thoroughly frustrated. My cell phone had just randomly disconnected in the middle of a client call for the third time and I’d had it!  I was all but  ready to chuck the phone and my computer out the window and go live in 1794 or something!

Right after that a friend called, and after listening to me complain for about 2 min she started laughing.  What?!?!?  How dare she laugh at my misfortune!   When she was able to catch her breath she finally explained.

“Maria,” she said.  “Just last week you were complaining about how you were so busy and feeling overwhelmed with coaching clients and website projects and whatnot.  Don’t you remember how you practically shouted that you needed A BREAK from it all?”

Ah-ha….. light bulb goes on!  Yes!  I wanted a break.  And I got exactly that!  My whining had sent off a HUGE rocket of desire to the Universe to give me a break….. and it did!

Duh… how could I have missed that?

So what does all this have to do with a storm?

I created this technical storm that swirled around disrupting my life all last week.  And I was the EYE of that storm.  I was the cause and the center.  And once I realized that I was able to calm down, get centered, stop complaining and simply be still in the middle of all the chaos.  And once I did that things began to flow again.  And in no time everything was working in perfect order, projects were getting done again, clients were being taken care of, and all was once again at peace in my world :)

So the next time you’re experiencing a week (or month) of chaos stop for a minute and see if maybe, just maybe, you’re at the eye of your very own storm.  Once you own that, you’ll see you also have to power to once again great calm, clear seas…. Happy sailing!
