Are You A Manifesting Know It All?

Everyone has some things they just know they have mastered.  For me it’s bookkeeping and admin stuff, making perfect cornbread (yup… mine is really awesome!), explaining Law of Attraction to people, being really good at home remedies for better health, and helping people with their businesses.

While it’s good to be a master of something, it can also block you from manifesting the things you want.  The reason is that if you think you *know it all* about a certain subject you’re less likely to be open to new information.  Which means you’re less likely to see the alternate solutions the Universe brings you.

This hit home with me last week when I was working on a project for someone and they didn’t like the way I was doing a certain thing. Instead of being open-minded about it, I found myself grumbling inside and making the changes very grudgingly, thinking the whole time that my way was better.

Later, when I was still grumbling to myself, I got to thinking…

Why was I wasting all this time and energy on this?  It really wasn’t some big thing and it was over.  Plus I’m sure the other person wasn’t losing sleep over it like I was at that moment!

Why was it such a big deal to me?  Objectively it really wasn’t that big a deal.  Yet I had managed to blow it up into a nuclear cloud! Upon reflection I realized that it wasn’t the task itself I cared about but the fact that someone had not agreed with my way of accomplishing it.  It was more about me being attached to my methods than the actual project.

Then I started thinking… what can I learn from this and what message is the Universe sending me?

Well, I’d been looking for a more efficient way to do a few things and the Universe had certainly delivered because the other person’s suggestions actually saved time and taught me something I didn’t know about the process (remember, I thought I knew it all about this subject so it was a little blow to my ego to accept that maybe I didn’t). So in the end I had to admit the other person’s method was more effective than my own.

It also reminded me of the bigger picture which is that I can never know everything there is to know about a subject and there is always room to learn more and see things differently.

And finally, I learned that the more I’m grumbling about something the bigger clue it is for me to look inside myself and see if maybe there’s some stubbornness I need to let go of so the Universe can bring me the things I’ve asked for.

Remember… we say what and the Universe says how. Then it’s up to us to accept the “how” the Universe delivers.
