This happened to me last week and I couldn’t figure it out at first.  Then finally it hit me…and I had to laugh as I realized I did indeed get exactly what I asked for!

Here’s the scoop:

To set this up we have to go back to last month when I had several experiences of receiving different amounts of cash.  The amounts and reasons were varied but I remember thinking to myself how good it feels to receive cash.  I like the exchange of cash rather than credit or electronic funds because it is so real.  I can see it, feel it, smell it, etc. and it brings me a lot of joy.  So I put out a request to receive more funds in cash.  Then I spent a few moments experiencing how good it feels to receive money that way.

Then, quite frankly I forgot about it.

So fast forward to last week…

A check I’d received from a client bounced.  That alone bothered me because this never happens… I always have the experience of easy and happy client transactions.  So I was confused to say the least, then frustrated because I couldn’t get a hold of the client right away then angry because I found out that check caused my bank account to be overdrawn.

I kept asking the Universe what was going on here.  Just like you… I am always focusing on financial abundance and for sure the Universe didn’t seem to be listening.  But get this.  The next day I did get in touch with the client who apologized profusely as it was a bookkeeping error, then told me to stop by later that day and he’d make it good.

When I stopped by he handed me cash…. everything he owed me plus bank fees plus a bit extra for “my trouble.”  AND… he told me he only wants to deal in cash from now on.

WHOA!  Instantly my mind flashed back to that moment a month ago when I’d told the Universe how lovely dealing in cash feels and how I’d like to do more of it.

So I got my wish, with the Universe working it out in quite an unexpected way!  Next time though I’ll remember to specify a bit less drama :)

I’m a Law of Attraction realist. By realist I mean I don’t think that Law of Attraction is all about intangible, feel good stuff that has no practical meaning in our lives.  Rather LOA is a very real, Universal law that we are all subject to.

Having said that, I also understand why some people find it a hard concept to swallow.  I mean heck, it’s hard to think that when bad things happen to good people they’ve somehow attracted it. But the Law of Attraction isn’t about being optimistic and having warm fuzzy feelings and fat bank accounts. It’s about our lives reflecting what we are in sync with.

If you look at what caused the economic situation we’re in right now, it wasn’t caused by the stock market or the  financial markets or any other markets for that matter. It was people losing confidence in prosperity which lead them to take actions that ultimately led to the economic downturn. And it will be people regaining that confidence and acting accordingly that will turn it around.

Law of Attraction isn’t some invisible force buzzing around the universe dropping gold on one person and manure on the next. It’s an expression humans made up to describe a very real condition – what we give attention to becomes our reality.

What humans are trying to learn now is how to use that on purpose in their own lives. But changing ingrained beliefs isn’t as easy as the gurus make it out to be (and certainly isn’t purchasable in 3 easy payments of 39.95).

It takes time and commitment to master something that is such an ingrained and transparent part of us. I suspect it will take a few generations before the majority of people are saying, “well duh, everyone knows that.”

I realized that the times I’ve been the most financially successful are the times I’ve been the most in love with money.  And the times I’ve been the most broke are when I’ve been in a fight with money.

Money is such an integral part of our lives that our relationship with it is more like a romance than business arrangement.  Though we may do “business like” things with our money (like balancing our check book, making investments, budgeting, etc.) the nature of our relationship is really a very emotional one.

Consider how we jump for joy when we get an unexpected windfall or get that knot in our stomach when unexpected expenses pop up.  Think of how great it feels to see our bank balance going up and how we cringe when it gets below our comfort level.

And like a jealous lover, we sometimes begrudge those who we perceive as wanting to take “our money” away from us – dang mortgage, utility and credit card companies!

My point is this:

Since our relationship with money is an emotional one anyway, it makes sense to treat it that way instead of trying to keep it on a logical, detached level.

So go ahead and love your money!  Nurture it, appreciate it, encourage it to grow!

And watch it respond by giggling, snuggling up, and filling your loving space with more and more of itself.

Better get a bigger wallet!
